The adoption of a shared understanding in using assessment strategies for learning is essential to support trust in the process, student development of soft skills and to promote the benefits of learning through collaboration.
The assessment of this learning is dependent on how perspective is able to be expressed by the student and is tempered by teacher observations and feedback. Strategies for this assessment can be as complex and varied as the student, so teachers must have access to clear curriculur guidelines, proven resources, and opportunities for building an adaptable toolkit.
Our proposal: Write a letter of recommendation to Ministries of Education across Canada explaining the importance of Soft Skills and asking for consideration of the inclusion of soft skills assessment into provincial curriculum.
